To become or renew a notary commission in Washington state you must:
  • Obtain a $10,000 notary surety bond to protect the public you serve. ($50)
  • File the signed bond with the State of Washington Notary Division ($40-$57 depending on your licensing needs)
  • Once licensed/commissioned supply a copy of the license for procurement of your stamp. ($37.75-$55.75)
  • You will also need a state compliant notary journal as all notarial acts must be recorded. ($19.75-$29.75)
  • Perform your notarial duties in accordance with Washington state notary laws and practices.

Processing Instructions

  1. Complete the below linked Bond Information and Commission Order Forms.

    The minimum items you will need when acting as a notary are the state required notary bond, a notary stamp and journal (record book).You may also order additional supplies, register for a seminar, and purchase insurance at this time

  2. Return these two pages of information to our office using the payment method of your choice.

    Once we receive your request, we will write your bond and email it to you

  3. We will issue your bond via email with instructions on how to file it with the state.

    Please allow half an hour for this step.

  4. The state will notify you via email when your license is ready.

    If using the state online system for renewing your commission will be instantly issued.New and expired commissions will take the Notary Section of the State of Washington approximately 4-8 weeks to process.

  5. By law, you must supply a copy of that license to us before we can legally release your stamp.
